A hot tub is the item people most often underestimate. It looks like a large box. It is a fibreglass shell wrapped in a timber frame with an insulated base, and an average one runs six hundred to nine hundred pounds empty.
That is why the price is not the same as a couch, and why the answer to “can two guys just carry it out” is usually no.
What has to happen first
- It has to be drained. A full tub holds three to five hundred gallons, which is two tons of water and nobody is moving that.
- The power has to be disconnected. If it is hard-wired to a breaker, that is an electrician's job, not ours, and it needs doing before the day.
- The route out has to be clear. Gates, fence panels, patio furniture, the low branch nobody thinks about.
Whole, or in pieces
If it can come out whole on a dolly and the route allows it, that is the fastest and cheapest version.
If it is on a raised deck, behind a narrow gate, or in a screened enclosure, it gets cut down on site. That is a saw, a plan for where the pieces land, and a longer job. It is not a problem, it just is not a twenty-minute one.
What it costs
Hot tubs price by the space they take on the trailer, like everything else, and a standard four to six person tub takes most of one. Expect it to sit near the full-trailer end of the range rather than the middle.

A word on the free-to-a-good-home route
Listing it free on Marketplace works occasionally and wastes a fortnight often. People arrive without a trailer, without help, and without having read that it is not working. If it is genuinely functional and you have time, try it. If it has sat empty for two seasons, it is junk and it is worth calling it that.
